STAY AT HOME MUMS ARE THEY ALL IN THE PAST?

Societies views on what a mothers role is, has changed dramatically through the years, in times gone by it was expected that once a woman got married, she would stay at home and have children and look after the house, now it is not always the case that all mothers stay at home as full time house wives, looking after the children, cooking and cleaning.

I think it is up to each individual couple to decide what is right for them, but the decision should be made jointly and not imposed upon either person in the relationship. There is no universal blue print that people can follow to make the right decision, as a lot of personal factors need to be taken into consideration.

Personally, I would like to have a combination of being able to still have a life away from the children and the house work, while still being able to experience my children growing up. This compromise is only achievable if you are financially capable of having help around the house and not having to work all the time to pay the bills, so it is only a minority of people who are lucky enough to be able to have the compromise I would like.

No matter what the structure of your family, the only important factor to consider is the well being of your children, and like anything in life compromises and sacrifices have to be made, you only live once, your children only grow up once and it is up to us all to make the most of life and what it has to offer.
